Recently I was approached with an opportunity to play at and write a review of a new online poker site. Lock Poker is a partner on the Cake Poker Network. I'm sure you've at least seen ads for Cake Poker. I know a person or two who has played on Cake and as expected, the word is that the games are soft. So I checked it out.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience playing at Lock Poker. I like the software and I like the color of the tables and such. there are avatars which can be turned on or off and what I liked most about this was the picture of the dealer at the table because there's someone there to swear at when cards don't go your way. I also like that after you fold you can scroll over your seat and review what cards you folded.
I started with a SNG. The turbo actually had 6 minute levels which I thought was strange, I'm used to 3 minutes. Also, the single table had 10 players as opposed to 9 and 4 got paid, as opposed to 3. I busted with QQ to 89s, all in preflop... puke... so I went to the cash games. There I sat in a .10/.20 nl game and ran up a profit of $35. Unfortunately, I played the next day like a wild maniac and blew through my small roll on the site. But I can say, the small and somewhat unknown nature of the site does provide for some terrible players.
The one thing I'd like to see added to the software would be a customizable tourny menu do I wouldn't have to look at all the SNGs I don't wanna play. But overall, I recomend the joint.
